Sunday:
- AM Run: 10.15 Mi - 400' - 1:10 - Moderate: Blustery conditions today. Snowing, 20 mph winds, and only 7 degrees with a -9 wind chill. I decided to run down the highway with the wind at my back and hitch home which was a good call. My heal felt alright, barely noticed it today. Trying to remain positive and not let a little 3 day setback get to me.
- PM Core Workout.
- AM Run: 5.02 Mi - 300' - 0:40 - Easy: Today is a planned easy day. Peanut Lake Rd & an add on in town. Chilly, but the sun is back so it wasn't too bad. No more overdoing it on easy days like I did a week ago. I could still feel my heal a little.
- PM Strength Workout.
- AM Run: 4.14 Mi - 300' - 0:36 - Easy: Achilles felt a little twingy on any slight up or down, so called it early. Going to take a couple more days and let it rest, then hit the skate skiing hard the next two weeks in hopes to regain some fitness and get the Achilles back to 100%.
- Day Off: Complete rest day and spent a lot of time reflecting on my training, making adjustments for when my Achilles is feeling better and trying to figure out how to be fit(ish) for SOB50 in just 3 week.
- PM Strength Workout.
- AM Skate Ski: 8.73 Mi - 300' - 1:32 - Easy: Gave Jess a skate ski lesson. Did a bunch of little springs and such back and forth while she was working on technique. Overall it was an easy outing.
- PM Skate Ski: 7.71 Mi - 300' - 1:04 - Easy: Went out solo to get some extra miles in. LOTS of fresh snow on the trails. Could not even see my boots at times.. not the best conditions to skate ski.
- PM Core Workout.
- AM Run: 3.65 Mi - 300' - 0:28 - Easy: This is really getting old.. felt fine for the first 3.5 miles then felt a couple twinges right when I was about to turn around. Walked for a minute, then when I started running it twinged again. I don't want to hurt it at all, so I just stopped and hitched back to town.
- PM Skate Ski: 6.11 Mi - 300' - 1:16 - Easy: Skied with Jess again. She is doing much better today. Took it easy since the conditions were still shitty since it has not stopped snowing in 2 days.
- PM Skate Ski: 22.14 Mi - 1,500' - 2:39 - Long: Finally some sunshine! I wanted to get 30 miles in, but my feet were aching from my boots / the soft conditions so I stopped a bit early. Still felt tired though, so I got the effect I wanted.
- PM Strength Workout.

This week has been hard just trying to remain positive. I'm really kicking myself for overdoing it and not being smart about training. Now I am just 3 weeks out from a very competitive 50 miler and my training is well below par. The next week to week and a half I am going to try and skate ski as much as possible since that does not really bother my body and will hopefully give me some aerobic fitness. My Achilles is feeling better now that I have taken some time off, so hopefully I can also include some light running just to keep the running muscles firing properly. I should have a least a week to 10 days of running in a warmer climate before the race on February 1st, so I am hoping that will be enough to still be able to be competitive. Only time will tell..
