Training Recap: September 29 - October 5

10/5/2013

Sunday:
  • (AM) Run: 11.24 Mi - 2,500' - 2:37 - Easy: Attempted to do the 4-Pass with Pat & Dustin. My legs were not feeling it so I played it safe and bailed down to Aspen and hitched home from there.
Monday:
  • (PM) Run: 7.52 Mi - 900' - 0:57 - Moderate: My right quad was a bit sore from yesterday, but I ran a little harder and it actually felt pretty good. The second half of the run was easier though.
Tuesday:
  • (AM) Run: 4.80 Mi - 600' - 0:49 - Easy: Ran around the woods walk trails taking some pictures of the trail & fall colors. Hopefully I can get a blog post up about that trail later this week.
  • (PM) Run: 3.45 Mi - 500' - 0:39 - Easy: Went up to Snodgrass and did a very short run on some of the horse trails on the north side. I always forget how nice those are. Definitely have to start using them more.
Wednesday:
  • (AM) Run: 8.85 Mi - 1,000' - 1:37 - Easy: The new Izzy's Bagel Run! Only Miguel showed up, probably going to change it to 8:00 instead of 7:00... most people apparently don't like to get up early. Did the Lower Loop.
Thursday:
  • (AM) Run: 15.73 Mi - 5,800' - 4:23 - Mountain: Finally, my legs felt like normal! Well, almost. Three peaks, lots of time above treeline, and a descent amount of vert. Time to get back to normal training.
Friday:
  • (PM) Run: 10.49 Mi - 1,800' - 1:38 - Easy: First time up on the upper loop in quite a while. The snow stopped just long enough to enjoy the sunset and get some cool photos of Mt CB.
Saturday:
  • (PM) Run: 1.12 Mi - 1,400' - 1:14 - Moderate: Deli - Whetstone - Upper - Lake Grant -.Tony's. The snow is mostly melted out there. Feeling good to get my legs back and do some normal training efforts again!

Week Totals

Running: 72.29 Miles, 14,500' Vert, 12 Hrs, 16 Min

Summary

Starting to get my legs back after a few weeks of recovery from RRR100. The beginning of the week was rough, I wanted to run long, and even attempted to do the 4-Pass (a 30 mile loop with 8,600' vert) but my legs said no and I bailed early. After that I took a couple easy days, then headed out on Thursday for a "bigger" day with Sean. That felt pretty good and sense then I have been able to run more like normal doing my 10 mile easy days with no trouble. Now it's time to get back to grind and see if I can get race fit for one more fall race. I haven't officially decided on what race, but I am pretty sure I know which one it will be. Just depends on logistics and if I can afford to travel and race again this fall.
