Summary: What a week! I took the week off from work to spend it with Adrienne who was in town for her spring vacation. It was also perfect timing to rest up and relax before my season opener, the Run Through Time Trail Marathon. I backed off my training, and got to enjoy some restful days. I also got out and skied on the mountain for the first time (it was also my first time alpine skiing in nearly 2 years), and that was a blast until I had a spill and tweaked my left knee. The next day it bothered me the most, and I nearly considered not running, scratch that, only running a few miles... but, I took some Advil, put in some loud music, and banged out a 15 miler anyway. The knee loosened up and my mental state was brought back to normal. The next couple days, the soreness dissipated and by Friday, the day before the race, it was gone. Feww! After that, I went to Salida, crashed at my friend Ericka's, and got up Saturday morning and thew down in the Marathon. You can check out the details of that here. Adrienne & her dad ran in the half marathon and did awesome! It was Adrienne's first half marathon and she finished it wanting to do more. (even mentioned the possibility of a 50 miler some day... and to think a year ago she hated running). So, a good week of vacation, some minor aches and pains due to my all or nothing mentality, and a solid season opening race. A very good week!
