Training Recap: June 30 - July 6

7/7/2013

Sunday:
  • (AM) Run/Hike: 15.43 Mi - 5,800' - 4:31 - Easy: Tried to do the Tenmile Range Traverse in Breckenridge but got denied due to thunderstorms after Peak 6. The final 4 peaks will have to wait until another day.
Monday:
  • (PM) Run/Hike: 7.48 Mi - 3,300' - 2:40 - Easy: Another day, another peak. This time we tagged Quandary Peak at 14,265 ft before heading home. Legs felt a little bit slow after the past two days, but warmed up quick.
Tuesday:
  • (PM) Run: 8.56 Mi - 700' - 1:03 - Moderate: Kept it flat. Tony's to Lake Grant to Deli Tr. Could feel the past few days of climbing in my legs, but otherwise better than yesterday.
Wednesday:
  • (PM) Run: 10.19 Mi - 1,400' - 1:23 - Easy: Lower Loop to the falls and back. Had planned on a shorter run, but felt comfortable and relaxed and decided to do the full loop.
Thursday:
  • (PM) Run/Hike: 15.19 Mi - 5,000' - 5:15 - Easy: A long day above 12,000 ft. Run/Hiked up White Mtn and ran a bunch of the Deer Creek tr with Adrienne. Even saw about 300 elk. Total time was about 8.5 hrs.
Friday:
  • (PM) Mountain Run: 15.29 Mi - 3,900' - 2:49 - Easy: I met Pat at his place, ran the Lower to Gunsight Pass, tagged Red Lady (12,392 ft) and then ran back to town via the Plunge. Exhausted.. could not sleep last night. Probably didn't help that I only had some water and no food on the run, bonked pretty hard as a result.
Saturday:
  • (AM) Run: 4.37 Mi - 100' - 2:51 - Easy: Hiked up to Green Lake with Adrienne & her parents before she left for the airport and flew back to NYC. We ran down from there.

Week Totals

Running: 76.51 Miles, 20,200' Vert, 20 Hrs, 32 Min.

Summary

So this week was not a huge volume week, but I did spend a lot of time above treeline and climbing peaks. I felt recovered from the race a just over a week ago and I am hoping that the vert and the altitude will be set up a good foundation for the coming weeks. Now its time to focus more on longer, and some faster runs to prepare for Leadville.
