Sunday:
  • (PM) Run: 4.19 Mi - 500' - 0:35 - Easy: Recovery day after rafting in Salida, CO. After nearly 2 months of traveling around Colorado & Utah, I will be heading home tomorrow. CB Bound!!
Monday:
  • (AM) Run: 12.02 Mi - 2,900' - 2:23 - Hills: Just got home, and like usual ended up running up a mountain. Sean & Kylee are in town job hunting (they will be moving in with me in July) a wanted to run up Mt CB. I couldn't say no to that. Mt. Crested Butte (12,162 ft), is my 10th unique summit of the year, and 12th total.
  • (PM) Run: 4.61 Mi - 300' - 0:40 - Easy: I did not plan on running twice today, but my buddy Nate herd that I was back in town and called me up. Easy on the Woods Walk with his dog Lefty.
Tuesday:
  • (AM) Run: 26.17 Mi - 3,500' - 4:03 - Long: Another day in Paradise! Sean, Kylee, & I drove out to West Brush Creek. Kylee did an out-n-back while Sean & I ran the following: Deer Creek, Snodgrass, Long Lake to Cloud City, Bandit Trail (shhh) to Gunsight Bridge, Lower Lower back to town. Legs felt a little tired today, but I'm planning on the next 3 days being easy. Awesome day, nearly all of it on single track. Just clicked my 2,000th mile of the year on this run as well!
Wednesday:
  • (PM) Run: 10.23 Mi - 1,200' - 1:35 - Easy: Nice and easy cruiser run on the Upper. After sleeping in this morning, I'm feeling a lot better. (Yesterday, I was dehydrated or something. Just felt exhausted all afternoon after the run)
  • (PM) Run: 5.81 Mi - 300' - 0:50 - Easy: Drove out to Oh Be Joyful with Nate & Karen, was going to watch some friends Kayak the falls, but they opted out. Ran back with Nate from there.
Thursday:
  • (AM) Run: 9.56 Mi - 700' - 1:34 - Easy: My legs felt tired, heavy, and a bit achy today. I think last week's training (116 miles, 22,000' vert, 19 hrs running - all on singles, & also 45 miles cycling) is finally catching up to me.
  • (PM) Road Bike: 5.04 Mi - ??' - 0:27 - Easy: Rode out to the Snodgrass TH for the group run. Planned on riding home, but it got chilly and was offered a ride.
  • (PM) Run: 6.05 Mi - 800' - 1:02 - Easy: CB Mountain Runners group run on the Snodgrass Trail. My legs still felt tired, but it was nice running real easy with everyone.
Friday:
  • (PM) Run: 11.65 Mi - 1,100' - 1:43 - Easy: Lupine Trail to Lower Loop with Benn. Legs felt better as the run went on and there were some nice stretches of Lupine in full bloom. Next week the Lupine Tr will be full of color!
Saturday:
  • (AM) Run: 16.37 Mi - 3,600' - 3:24 - Hills: Ran up Mt CB with Drew H, second time tagging the summit this week. Had planned on summiting another mountain, but my legs still don't feel great on the climbs. Decided to listen to them and call it early.
  • (PM) Run: 7.09 Mi - 2,000' - 1:40 - Hills: Attempted to summit Engineer Peak on the way to Durango. We got a late start and turned around about 700 vertical feet from the summit as the sun was setting.

Week Totals

Running: 113.75 Miles, 16,900 Vert, 19 Hrs, 29 Min.
Road Biking: 5.05 Miles, Unknown Vert, 0 Hrs, 27 Min

Week Overview

After last week's 116 miles on singles with nearly 22,000 vert, this week was relatively "easy". I doubled 4 times, keeping to somewhat flatter terrain for a good portion of it and still summiting Mt Crested Butte twice. I neglected my bikes big time, and only rode a mere 5 miles. Hopefully I can dust them off and get back to riding more next week now that I am home.

Over the past two months I have been all over Colorado & Utah during the off season. I am now back at 9,000 ft in Crested Butte trying to get into the swing of a "normal" routine once again. Whatever that is. While trying to get organized and focus on my VFuel Sales Rep gig, I am also preparing for my next race, the San Juan Solstice 50 which is coming up in just 2 weeks. I'm feeling the effects of the 39,000 feet of climbing from the past 14 days and am ready to let my legs rest. Next Wednesday will be my last true long run of 4+ hrs day between now and race day, so they should recover quickly. Recover, enjoy the this air, & prepare for race day. That's what the next two weeks entail.
