Training Recap: July 7 - 13

Sunday:
  • (AM) Run: 29.91 Mi - 8,600' - 6.37 - Long: Got a call from Pat a few days ago to run the 4 Pass.. so, how could I say no. Ran it with Pat, Jesse, & Chris. Felt great the first two passes, and by the 4th not so much. Definitely feeling the vert and lack of sleep over the past week+. 
Monday:
  • (PM) Run: 11.75 Mi - 1,600' - 1:35 - Moderate: Started the run with Sean, then ran up to the resort trails solo. Ran the flats and down hills pretty hard.
Tuesday:
  • (PM) Run: 8.51 Mi - 1,200' - 1:21 - Easy: Similar loop to yesterday up on the resort trails with Nate. Hip flexor was tight from yesterday. 
Wednesday:
  • Day Off: Worked all morning, then hitch-hiked to Leadville to do some training on the course. Got there later than planned, so did not run.
Thursday:
  • (AM) Run/Hike: 15.7 Mi - 4,500' - 4:48 - Easy: Went up Mt Massive at 14,421 ft. Ran the lower section to tree line, then hiked the rest. Ran easy on the way down. Lacking motivation to push up a mountain right now. 
Friday:
  • (PM) Mtn Bike: 9.26 Mi - 1,200' - 1:32 - Easy: Well, did not run again today. Waited out some thunderstorms then decided to get the bike out in the evening. Rode the CO trail from the North Elbert TH to Twin Lakes.. it was getting dark, and without a headlamp had to hitch. First car stopped. It was the police. They were really nice though and went out of their way to get us back to camp. Thanks guys!
Saturday:
  • (AM) Run: 37.53 Mi - 9,600' - 7:22 - Long: Ran a good portion of the Leadville 100 course. Started just before the CO Trail section, out to Winfield and back. Felt alright other than a low point at Twin Lakes inbound due to lack of calories and H20. 

Week Totals

Running: 103.41 Miles, 25,500' Vert, 21 Hrs, 43 Min
Mountain Bike: 9.26 Mi - 1,200' - 1 Hr, 32 Min

Summary

This was an interesting week. With two days off from running, I still managed over 100 miles and had a very high large amount of vertical gain, topping the 25k mark. My legs have been feeling fine, but my motivation to run hard has been hit or miss. I'm not sure exactly what is causing it, I have a few ideas, but regardless I need to get it fixed. There is only 5 weeks until Leadville and it's officially crunch time. Time to run long, and time to run faster. Time to want it again...
