Summary: Another solid week of training, and a great start to February. Recovery from the Alley Loop went well, and the minimal soreness was gone in just 2 days. With my legs feeling good, I put in a few extra miles early in the week. Now, at the end of the week, I took a look at my goal mileage that I wrote down at the start of the year, and saw that I am two weeks ahead of schedule. My legs have been feeling good, so I will probably embrace it, and continue to build up to about 115 over the next couple weeks. Another high note for this week was that I received notice that I have been selected to compete in the 2013 UROC 100k as an elite. UROC (Ultra Race of Champions) takes place on September 28th, which will be 6 weeks after the Leadville 100.
Focusing more on the near future, the trail marathon in Salida, CO is coming up in just 4 weeks. I plan on working in a few tempo runs and faster paced long runs over the next three weeks to prepare for it. With solid competition, and dry trails it should be a good race. Running on dry single-track will be a much needed escape from the monotony of winter road running here in CB.
