Summary: This was technically the first week of the year, and training is slowly coming around. I reached my goal for the week with my running mileage, low 60's. Skate skiing however took a hit yet again. Instead of increasing in volume, it seems to be sliding the other way. The weather played a major factor this week, with very cold morning and evening temps (when I am free to ski), which made the snow very slow and sticky. I also had a busy week at work, and any free time has been consumed by running. The next few weeks should be better though. Slightly warmer temps this coming week, and hopefully a more relaxed work schedule.
Next week I plan to increase my running mileage, reaching anywhere from 68-72 miles. Again, I will try to get out and ski more than I have lately, with 40+ miles being my target. Core workouts at the Nordic Center - MWF evenings will be a sure thing this week. (stop by at 5:15 PM those days if you want in) Also, I have ordered a pair of racing snowshoes which I can't wait to try out. Especially with the CO State Snowshoe Championships just around the corner. Other than that, sleep! Something that I have not been very good at getting these past few weeks. With my training starting to ramp up again, it will become essential.
