After recovering from the Flagstaff Sky 55k Ultra final I decided to test my fitness in Moab. The previous weeks were probably my best in terms of training this season and I felt ready to put in a solid effort. Although my training had been TNF50 focused (buff trail / road), I was confident and ready to roll. At least I thought. The race went well, I finished 6th, plus I got to experience a beautiful & challenging course. I definitely underestimated the technicality though, and paid for it in the final miles by fading from 4th to 6th. Lesson Learned: Train for the terrain, or be willing to underperform.
