Josh Arthur was the 2015 US Skyrunning (Ultra) Champion and has numerous podium finishes at high level ultras: 2nd at the 2015 North American Skyrunning Continental Championships, 2nd at the 2014 Run Rabbit Run 100, and and 2nd at the 2012 Cascade Crest 100. Josh has also compiled a number of victories including the The Grizzly 50 (2018), El Vaquero Loco 50k (2015), Quad Rock 50 (2013), Run Through Time 26.2 (2013, 2014), Desert RATS 26.2 (2013), and Collegiate Peaks 25 (2012). In 2010 I moved to Colorado after getting a taste for mountain living during summer training stints in Flagstaff, AZ & Mammoth Lakes, CA. Bouncing between Crested Butte, and Bolder throughout the seasons both running and skiing. After about 6 years in Colorado though, it was time for a change. In January of 2017 I moved yet again to where I currently reside / train in Victor, Idaho at the base of Teton Pass and the magnificent Teton Mountain Range. I no longer run professionally but do still thoroughly enjoy the trails and jumping into races now and then. I'm farming (small organic vegetable farm) nearly full time here in the Tetons and look at running as part of a well balanced life. While I still have the passion for the sport I feel that it's becoming more so just a part of a bigger picture. Putting emphasis on a diverse existence focused on gratitude, whole / local foods, and family first is by far much more rewarding than shaving time off the clock. I am still a private running coach as well, training clients for races ranging from 26.2 to 100+ miles. With a background in Exercise Science, a passion for teaching running biomechanics, and 19+ years of experience as a competitive runner, I'll never completely step away from the sport! Nor would I ever want to. On top of that, I incorporate much more than just running into my coaching calls. Talking about how to balance life's ups and downs, how food and mindset have just as much weight in a training plan as the miles themselves, and how we can all become better runners though finding the right balance in life. |
Originally from Lowville, NY where the cows outnumber the people, I started my running career like most American kids, running cross country & track for his local high school. I then went on to run collegiately earning DII All American honors for Edinboro University of PA and graduated in 2010 with a BS in Exercise Science and minors in Fitness Mgmt & Athletic Coaching. It wasn't until 2012, though, that I truly hit the trail/ultra scene. |
